Early Wednesday morning, Swiss plainclothes police entered a five-star hotel in Zurich and arrested fourteen executives at FIFA, the international governing body of soccer, which decides where to host the World Cup.

Unfortunately, because they’ve been enriching themselves by accepting bribes from countries wanting to host a large soccer tournament, they were greeted by this instead:

Crazy enough, the Swiss were acting on the orders of the U.S. Justice Department, which has launched an extensive investigation into corruption at FIFA. The 14 officials arrested now face extradition to the U.S.

Say “au revoir” to views like these, boys!

But the U.S. has yet to press charges against the president of FIFA, Sepp Blatter. He is pictured below.

Blatter has claimed no wrongdoing, and has stated that FIFA must be allowed to police itself. He says he’s part of the solution, not the problem.

But Attorney General Loretta Lynch says the investigation is ongoing. This is just the beginning!
