Hot 10: Teyana Taylor
She’s taking over the music scene one sultry R&B hit at a time.
Teyana Taylor is a force to be reckoned with. The 24-year old Harlem native broke into the music scene early after signing with Pharrell Williams’ company, Star Trak Entertainment. It was in 2012 that the sexy singer joined Kanye West’s GOOD Music and Island Def Jam, setting her in the direction of stardom. By channeling the likes of music icons Lauryn Hill and Macy Gray, Teyana has proven to be a powerhouse sensation with hit singles and appearances on chart-topping albums.
“My goal is to inspire others,” she says. “I want to touch people and let them know at the end of the day, I’m a lot like them.”
Teyana has worked alongside some of the hottest musicians of this generation, but she still knows how to stand out in a crowd. With some downtime, she told Maxim all about feeling sexy, what she loves about a man, and what’s next for her.
I love to be part of the creative process. If I weren’t in the music industry as an artist, I probably would be a choreographer, director or photographer for different artists.
‘Bitch’ is the new ‘babe’ to me. I have a lot of gay friends and we call each other bitch all day. It takes the harshness out of the word for me, personally.
I feel the sexiest wearing lingerie… or a good pair of leggings, a dope snapback, a crop top and some J’s.
You’ll find me drinking cosmos! I’m the honorary fifth member of the Sex and the City gals [laughs].
Right now, I’m a big fan of Donell Jones and “Where I Wanna Be” album. I can listen to “Shorty (Got Her Eyes On Me)” over and over again.
I love a man’s energy. I’m attracted to vibes & energy and your energy can tell me what it is at the door.
Jennifer Lawrencewas my first and only woman crush Wednesday on IG. I love her, she’s so dope and funny!
An ideal date for me involves good steak to go with a good bottle of wine and some A1 steak sauce at Del Frisco’s [laughs].
A guy has to smell very nice and he has to have a clean cut. And he has to keep the hair on his body tamed… please!
As for what’s next, I’m planning on dropping my 90s project, entitled “The Cassette Tape” and I’m the newest host of America’s Best Dance Crew: Road to the VMAs. I’m extremely grateful and excited about what the future holds for me!
