Bar Longhi, Venice, Italy

Inside the ridiculously plush Gritti Palace hotel is the sexiest bar in Venice – hell, maybe all of Europe. Even the Queen of England stays here when she hits those canals, and it’s pretty easy to see why. The iconic green marble bar, mirrored ceilings, and walls adorned with paintings by the 18th-century artist Pietro Longhi give off the right impression. The drinks are as punchy as their price tags and the cocktail menu is epic. World-famous head barman Cristiano Luciani mixes up unusual cocktails like the Balsamic Martini (trust us on this one) as well as all the classics. If you’re in Venice with a lover, you’ve found the perfect date spot, although this is the one time you’ll be hoping you don’t need a room at the end of the night – yep, we’re talking thousands.

If you like to take things outside and play al fresco, then the terrace is your spot – it’s literally on the Grand Canal. Fat cats pull on cigars, rich Americans sip on fine cocktails, and if you look behind those big sunglasses, you’ll probably spot a celeb or two, since Brangelina, Scarlett Johansson, and many other Hollywood A-listers stay here (and have been known to drink the bar dry).
