The 2013 NFL Big 5: Week 12

Turkey Day football is here – what should you watch for while ignoring your family?

The new NFL week is here and with it comes chaos. Fortunately, Maxim is here to help you navigate these uncharted waters with five predictions that will undoubtedly (or just maybe) come true.

Big Upset – Green Bay over Detroit

Can a full decade of Detroit’s ineptness at Thanksgiving football be completed by an Aaron Rodgers-less Packers team? We’d say yes – Eddie Lacy is the hero that will slay the evil Ndamukong Suh and last time Matt Flynn took over the Packers team he earned himself a pretty hefty contract. Of course, he took that contract and immediately proceeded to shit the bed before the season even started, but he’s back with the Pack and likely has something to prove.

Big Performance – Mike Glennon

The Tampa Bay QB has only thrown one pick in his last seven games. Maybe Greg Schiano was onto something with this guy. Don’t worry, that doesn’t change the fact that Greg Schiano is still a massive shithead.

Big Flop – Knowshon Moreno

After a powerhouse performance against the Pats, Knowshon limped off in OT. Though he will likely play, the Chiefs’ not-too-shabby run defense can handle a hobbled (and mediocre to begin with) back at home. And even though the Broncos have gone with “running back by committee” in the past, Montee Ball is not likely to be the guy to take the Broncos over the threshold. Fortunately, the Broncos have a guy under center that people say is pretty good, and who can take the reins when the running game is stalled.

Big Storyline – AFC Blitz

There are six, count ‘em SIX, AFC teams that are competing for a wild card spot at 5-6, with three more teams one game out at 4-7. We’d decry the chance of an under-.500 team making the playoffs like so many old NFL grinches, but last time we had that, this happened, so how bad could it really be?

Big Stinker – Jaguars at Browns

Can we just call this a 3-3 tie and all get on with our lives?
