The 2013 NFL Big 5: Week 17

Get your regular season football fix – this is the last you’ll have of it.

The new NFL week is here and with it comes chaos. Fortunately, Maxim is here to help you navigate these uncharted waters with five predictions that will undoubtedly (or just maybe) come true.

Big Upset – Jets over Dolphins

There are more AFC playoff scenarios than we can describe here, but most of the ones that feature the Dolphins winning also feature them taking the last wild card spot, and if there’s anything the Jets like to do (as well as Rex Ryan on his way out) it’s spoil things for their divisional friends.

Big Performance – Arian Foster

Thanks to a perfectly timed injury, Foster has all but locked up the first round pick for his Texans, assisted in no small part by the inept quarterback club. The Redskins are the only team that could threaten, and thanks to the trade for RG3 that sent the pick to the Rams, they don’t have much of a reason to work (or not work) for it.

Big Flop – Matt Ryan

After a big letdown on Candlestick’s last night, the Falcons host a Panthers team that can’t really afford to take their foot off the gas. Carolina has made a season off of their defensive stature, and Matt Ryan’s depleted receivers won’t be able to find much room in the secondary.

Big Storyline – Those Crazy Cowboys

Tony Romo has finally figured out the secret – you can’t blow the most important game of the season if you don’t play in it. Try to hate on him now, Cowboy fans!

Big Stinker – New York Giants at Washington

If the Eagles and Cowboys game is Alec Baldwin, this game isn’t even Stephen – it’s the weird Baldwin that only shows up on a 1 am cable movie.
