All you have to do is survive a night sleeping in Dracula’s 700-year old castle. More than just sounding like an episode of Scooby Doo, The Simpsons, Family Guy or any other classic sitcom, it’s the real-life first prize of AirBnB’s Halloween Contest.
To enter this purposefully spooky competition, just submit a (presumably dark and) creative story between 50 and 550 characters, briefly but cleverly explaining what would you say to count Dracula if you were to meet him in his own castle.
The winner and a guest will be flown from anywhere in the world and brought by horse-drawn carriage to the castle. There you’ll be personally greeted by Dacre Stoker—great grandnephew of Bram Stoker, Dracula‘s author—who just happens to be an expert on vampires and Transylvanian lore. He’ll guide you on a private tour through the dark passages of the castle, unveiling its many mysteries.
From there, as the listing page intimates, it’s pretty much all-access:
“Enter the castle and explore the labyrinth of lamp-lit corridors, creepy nooks, and squeaky staircases while there is still light in the sky.
You may traipse through all fifty-seven rooms, from lofty tower lookouts to deep dark crypts, and even enjoy an incomparable view of the Carpathians from the terrace as the sun makes its final descent. But once darkness comes, retreat inside. Unexpected guests have been known to come knocking in the moonlit hours.”
So, do you have the wit and gumption to stay in this ultimately foreboding misty mountaintop manor? You’ve got just over a week to enter the contest, which ends October 26th. Just in time for you to be whisked away for a Halloween night you’ll never forget. You can count on it.
