Last night marked the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards; a typically grueling three hour snob-fest we can never seem to escape. However, this year we were pleasantly surprised when comedy queens and fellow SNL alums Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were announced as hosts, taking the reigns from last year’s controversial host Ricky Gervais. Despite both women losing the Best Actress in a TV Comedy category to Girls creator Lena Dunham, armed with booze and a good writing staff, the two managed to steal the show, and pull off some awesome digs at the celebs without being overly cruel. Below, some of our favorites.
“I haven’t really been following the controversy over Zero Dark Thirty, but when it comes to torture, I trust the lady who spent three years married to James Cameron.”
“Look how drunk Glenn Close is.“
“You know what, Taylor Swift? You stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son…[Swift] needs some ‘me time’ to learn about herself.”
In reference to Anne Hathaway’s Les Misérables performance: “I haven’t seen someone so totally alone and abandoned like that since you were on stage with James Franco at the Oscars.”
“Quentin Tarantino is here, the star of all my sexual nightmares.”
In reference to Bill Clinton: “Wow, what an exciting special guest! That was Hillary Clinton’s husband!”
Check out some more celebrity burns in the duo’s hilarious opening monologue.
