Bob Odenkirk and David Cross are Getting a Netflix Show
17 years after Mr. Show, Bob Odenkirk and David Cross are returning to their humble sketch comedy roots on With Bob and David.
Great news for geeky comedy dudes who came of age in the 90’s: The HBO Emmy-nominated sketch comedy series Mr. Show with Bob and David is getting a 2015 reboot of sorts. Bob Odenkirk and David Cross will be reuniting with their former Mr. Show co-stars to produce four half-hour episodes for a brand new series simply called With Bob and David, which will be released on Netflix at a yet-to-be determined date in the (hopefully) near future. Even better: Abso Lutely Productions, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim’s California-based production company, will produce the show, so we can expect the same unadulterated weirdness that made the original so great.
Of course, all of this means nothing to people who are unfamiliar with Mr. Show, the trailblazing sketch comedy series that ran on HBO from 1995-98, long before Breaking Bad turned Odenkirk into a household name and Arrested Development turned Cross into – well, not a household name, but a guy who you’d probably recognize on the subway, and only if he happened to be covered in blue paint. But for those who do remember Mr. Show, and all of the joy it brought to pot-filled dorm rooms across America, the announcement is sure to inspire cries of, “at last!” – followed by a salvo of celebratory bong rips. In case you forgot just how awesome it was, here’s a clip to jog your memory:
