Canadian Porn Channel in Trouble for Showing Porn That’s Not Canadian Enough
Let’s get some more Canuck-style naughtiness up in here, eh?
Adults Only Video, purveyor of naughty television entertainment north of the border, is under fire for a lack of Canadian (and what we imagine is extremely polite) porn on their networks. Canadians, being a patriotic people, have a 35% Canadian-made content threshold by which all purely Canadian television stations must abide. Meaning that if you are operating a 24-hour network, at least 8.5 hours a day (or in AOV’s case, 10-12 horribly forced storylines) must be filled with content produced by Canadians.
The channel takes full responsibility, citing a clerical error on their side. The clerk was (probably) quoted as saying, “Well, if they didn’t keep busting in and shooting scenes on my desk, maybe I wouldn’t be so disorganized, you stupid jerks.”
The channel is also being taken to task for failing to add closed captioning to their programming. Because, when it comes to porn, you know how important it is to know whether the pizza that young lady ordered was a medium sausage or a large sausage. (Spoiler alert: it was the large.) They are also on the hook for not providing a service called “Audio Description,” in which a narrator describes the action on screen for blind viewers – though to be fair, we assume that’s only because the producers were unable to find someone capable of doing that job without giggling uncontrollably.
The government regulator will review all of the infractions during a hearing on April 28th. Yeah, we bet they will.
