Chris Hemsworth Gets Fired Up In Marvel’s ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Teaser Trailer

Set to “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses, Thor prepares to take on a galactic killer in the first teaser trailer.

Marvel has finally released a trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, the sequel to 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok in which Chris Hemsworth’s hammer-wielding hero gets ready to face off with Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher.

Set to “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses, the colorful first teaser trailer initially finds a peaceful Thor claiming that he has retired from his “superhero-ing days”—but not for long.

Taking place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Thor initially says he’s done with kicking villainous ass and is embracing a healthier, more Zen-like lifestyle.

“I want to choose my own path, live in the moment,” Thor says in a voiceover. “My super hero-ing days are over.”

But don’t worry, Thor’s retirement plans soon come to a halt when he has to face off with Bale’s Gorr The God Butcher. Here’s Marvel’s official plot synopsis to get yourself up to speed:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods.

To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
