Watch the Insane Teaser Trailer For the 7th Child’s Play Film, ‘Cult of Chucky’

Your favorite creepy doll turns 30 next year.

It’s hard to believe the angelic doll with the soul of a stone-cold killer has been plaguing our nightmares for almost three decades, but it’s true—Chucky’s been around a while now. Yes, after a few years off the radar, he’s back. In this teaser for Child’s Play 7, titled Cult of Chucky, we learn that deadly little redheaded doll is coming, and he’s ready for more sick jokes and blood-soaked mayhem.

Entertainment Weekly reports exclusively that the film will begin shooting this month in Canada, with actor Brad Dourif back to voice the malevolent leading role. EW reports that the plot will pick up with central character Nica Pierce (Dourif’s daughter Fiona) confined to an insane asylum, convinced that she killed her family. Which of course, she didn’t. Inevitably, things don’t go well:

… when Nica’s psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions — an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.

Cult of Chucky is a product of Universal 1440 Entertainment. It’s set for release sometime in the fall of 2017 on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD.

We expect Chucky masks to soar in popularity next Halloween, though of course they’ll have to compete with all the creepy clowns.
