Dave Chappelle, Kevin Hart and Tracy Morgan Top a Killer Lineup of Comedy Gods For ‘Def Comedy Jam 25’

Yes, Def Comedy Jam is now old enough to rent a car.

Def Comedy Jam is 25 years old. While you let that sink in, check out the video above which details the epic slate of comedians who will participate along with headliners Dave Chappelle, Kevin Hart, and Tracy Morgan

HBO first debuted the stand-up showcase in 1992. It ran off and on through 2008 and put the careers of some comedians on steroids, including Chappelle and Bernie Mac.

Netflix is handling the show’s 25th anniversary celebration. Some of the other names on the roster read like a comedy who’s who: Martin Lawrence, Bill Bellamy, Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Griffin, Craig Robinson, JB Smoove, Mike Epps, Tiffany Haddish, Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley, Katt Williams—to name a few.

In related good news, show creator Russell Simmons said in a recent interview that he’s rebooting it under a different name All Def Comedy

Simmons told HipHopDX that the reason they are “shooting [All] Def Comedy so closely to its release date, and the reason we’re doing the 25-year anniversary of Def Comedy” is they “want the jokes to be current because they’re always packed with social and political power.”

Netflix releases the anniversary show this fall. The exact date is up in the air, but it’ll still feel like Christmas coming early for comedy fans.
