‘Deadpool’ is Becoming An Adult Animated TV Series, So Feel Free To Get Psyched

Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth is about to blow up on FXX.

Parlaying both the success of the hilariously dirty Archer animated series and a partnership with Marvel that just gave us the excellent show Legion, FXX has announced that Deadpool is getting his own animated series on their network, courtesy of Marvel and the uber-talented Donald Glover.

Yup, Childish Gambino himself has his hand in this one. Nick Gad, FX’s Co-President of Original Programming said, “Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta…”

We couldn’t be more excited about this. Having grown up on animated comic series like X-men, Spider-Man and Batman, seeing another beloved (and foul-mouthed) comic hero get a modern animated treatment, one that’s aimed specifically at a mature audience, has us eagerly awaiting Deadpool’s TV debut.

FX has ordered ten episodes for the first season of the as-yet-untitled series that launches in 2018.  We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for any details forthcoming about Wade Wilson’s latest, fourth-wall-breaking adventures. Chimichangas for everyone!
