Watch: Donald Cerrone Submits Alex Oliveira With Brutal Triangle Choke at UFC Fight Night

It was an impressively violent victory.

It was “Cowboy vs. Cowboy” on Sunday night’s much-anticipated UFC welterweight bout between Donald Cerrone and Alex Oliveira, and while a swift first-round submission ended the fight in just two and a half minutes, the action was far from disappointing.

In the initial seconds of the opening round, Oliveira established what would have been an early advantage as he trapped Cerrone in a Muay Thai clinch and nailed him with some hard knees to the body.

But the UFC veteran took those shots like a champ and proceeded to move the fight to the ground, utilizing his top-notch Jiu-Jitsu skills to submit Oliveira in a masterfully executed triangle choke.

The win was a welcome comeback in the wake of Cerrone’s last fight, in which he lost via knockout to the reigning lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos. Shortly after his comeback victory, fellow UFC brawlers congratulated Cerrone in a flurry of tweets.

With a such a successful welterweight debut, it looks like the “Cowboy” won’t have a problem landing future fights in one of the UFC’s most daunting divisions.
