Hopefully ‘Childish Gambino’s’ comic chops will come to a galaxy far, far away.

In the wealth of Star Wars news that’s blessed us lately was a note from The Wrap that a young Lando Calrissian will show up in the new Han Solo-standalone movie. As casting rumors began circulating online, directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord were apparently placing their request for who they’d like to play the eventual Cloud City administrator.

In what could be a genius move, it seems like their first choice is none other than dual rapper/actor Donald Glover, known to many by his musical alias, Childish Gambino.

Glover has easily proven his acting prowess over the past few years, with roles in Community, The Martian, and Magic Mike XXL. While his upcoming role in Spider-Man: Homecoming is still a mystery, we know he’ll soon control FX’s airwaves with his semi-autobiographical comedy series, Atlanta, this fall.

No official word has been put out about Donald’s connection to Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, but keep your fingers crossed. If it’s not his acting that sells you, his Billy Dee Williams-like charisma just might.

Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, starring Alden Ehrenreich, is set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
