Eminem Was Voted ‘Greatest Rapper of All Time,’ and People Are Absolutely Livid

"Those that voted for Eminem to be the best rapper of all time all need to be rounded up and beaten."

Eminem just turned 45, and the internet celebrated by gifting the legendary wordsmith with the extremely controversial title: “The Greatest Rapper of All Time.”

And by “the internet,” we mean 150,000 random Ranker users who voted a combined 2 million times.

Some estimates say that Slim has sold 170 million albums worldwide, so it’s well within the realm of possibility that his fans swamped the polls to put him in front of other groundbreaking greats like Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Nas, JAY-Z and Ice Cube, just to name a handful of hip-hop legends.

Despite braggadocious lyrics in songs like “Rap God” or “Without Me,” the Detroit born-rapper would likely disagree with—and perhaps even be ashamed of— his highly questionable ranking.

Even in “Rap God,” Em calls himself a product of his predecessors.

“Me? I’m a product of Rakim
, Lakim Shabazz, 2Pac, N.W.A, Cube hey Doc, Ren
Yella, Eazy, thank you they got Slim.”

“Inspired enough to one day grow up, blow up and be in a position/To meet Run–D.M.C. and induct them/Into the motherfuckin’ Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”

The man himself probably couldn’t give two shits about an online poll. But the results inflamed many rap fans, some of whom offered their own rap rankings.

A few agreed, but for all we know, they could be part of the relatively small population who voted.

Eminem is undoubtedly one of the greats, but let’s not get too worked up about one bullshit internet survey.
