Not since Homer Simpson jumped Springfield Gorge has a feat of derring-do so captured our imaginations. Next Sunday, on a live television event on the Discovery Channel, tightrope walker Nik Wallenda will attempt to cross the Grand Canyon without using a harness. The location of his crossing—1,500 feet above the Little Colorado River—will place him at a height greater than the Empire State Building. In other words, Wallenda, who is known as “The King of the High Wire,” is one crazy mofo. Why is he doing it? Check out this exclusive clip for an inside look at what it takes to risk becoming a human pancake.
