Watch Explosive New Trailer For The Rock’s ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’

We’d play this game.

We’re pretty sure Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stars in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle because he’s just as funny as he is dangerously buff. That’s what stands out about the entire cast—Kevin Hart and Jack Black are comedy stars, and Karen Gillan has proven she can handle action and funny stuff equally well.

The newest trailer for the movie from Sony showcases both jokes and action and makes it clear this movie, while it seems respectful of the spirit of Robin Williams’ classic Jumanji, is its own film.

Oddly, unlike the Williams film, this Jumanji was already controversial before we’d even seen the first footage, due to  Karen Gillan’s tight, semi-revealing outfit. Some were uncomfortable with the fact that though she is an adult character in the world of the movie’s namesake game, a teen plays the real world character.

Fortunately, the noise about Gillan’s costume seems to have blown over.

The synopsis for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle lays out an entirely new story:

Four high school kids discover an old video game console and are drawn into the game’s jungle setting, literally becoming the adult avatars they chose. What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji – you must survive it.

To beat the game and return to the real world, they’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, discover what Alan Parrish left 20 years ago, and change the way they think about themselves – or they’ll be stuck in the game forever.

We can’t wait to join The Rock, Kevin Hart, Gillan, and Jack Black as they try to win the game when Jumanji premieres December 20, 2017.
