The Fast, Beautiful Women of Ski Racing
We’re putting them on a podium even if they don’t win.
If the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, underway now in Beaver Creek, has served as an inter-Olympic reminder that downhill racing is one of the best spectator sports out there – and that’s precisely what it’s done – it has also reminded us that there is some bizarre correlation between good looks and speed. The perennial favorites, Lindsey Vonn and Tina Maze, are both knockouts and the women chasing them are (almost) equally well suited to a life in spandex.
And let’s not minimize the joy of just watching the sport, which is completely insane.
Here are the racers we’re rooting for – if only so they’ll take of those helmets.
