This Intense ‘Game of Thrones’ Comic-Con Preview Reveals the Return of a Major Character

Whoa.

Game of Thrones creators are not afraid to keep throwing full-blown trailers at fans, even though the 7th season of the show has already begun, the first episode seen by a whopping 16 million viewers.

No one’s complaining, of course. The “Weeks Ahead Preview” was made just for the GoT panel at San Diego Comic-Con and it contained a big reveal: Carice Van Houten’s Melisandre, who had been banished by Jon Snow, is back.

Granted, it wasn’t that huge a surprise—anyone with sharp eyes would’ve seen her in previous promos—but in this preview it’s clear she’s a key figure in the episodes to come.

This preview doesn’t have huge battle scenes so much as quick cuts that make it clear this show is about the characters and their machinations: Cersei (Lena Headey) is shown with her game face on, Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) is in the wild, and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) appears to be ready to kick even more ass like she did in the premiere.

Whatever happens, we’re always fine with more Daenerys
