Comic book artist Abel Alves has cobbled together an impressive series of video game levels he’s calling The Game of Thrones 8-Bit Game. Inspired by George R.R. Martin‘s books and the HBO show (obviously), the game features a series of levels based on theGoT characters. Gamers will get the chance to play as fan favorites from the show – Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister, and Daenerys Targaryen. Plus, each character comes equipped with different powers (Jon Snow shoots dire wolf missiles!), strengths, and weaknesses.
A bit more graphically impressive than old-school NES titles, 8-Bit still contains the same murderously frustrating kind of platforming and fighting that those games were known for. And it’s actually a little bit more satisfying than the disappointing (and official)Game of Thrones role-playing game. It’s free to download, so why not give it a shot? It’s the closest you’ll come to your Thrones fix until the series comes back for season 4 in 2014, or Martin publishes his next book…in 2045, or so.
