A low-polygon animation of James Bond‘s famed gun-barrel sequence is hyping up two rereleases of the gaming classic, GoldenEye 007.
Widely regarded as one the greatest video games ever made, the famed FPS set in the Pierce Brosnan Bond era is being remastered for Xbox and Nintendo.
According to Kotaku, the versions are substantively different. Nintendo’s will essentially be a port running an emulator with online play for its Switch Online Expansion Pack.
The “better” version, according to the gamer-centric outlet, will be offered on Xbox One and Series X/S through Game Pass. On Microsoft’s console, GoldenEye 007 will feature achievements, dual analogue stick support, 4K resolution, and a significantly higher framerate than the original.
While the Xbox version is expected to run better, it will only support local multiplayer. The Nintendo Switch version has a multiplayer advantage, as it will offer online play.
Originally released on Nintendo 64 in 1997, Goldeneye 007 takes Bond on an original espionage mission to prevent a GoldenEye satellite from destroying the world. Despite its age, the title remains popular among competitive gamers who are still actively working towards achieving insane feats like world-record speed runs.
Release dates haven’t been revealed, but the GoldenEye 007 remasters are “coming soon.”
