Here’s Chief Hopper from Stranger Things as you’ve never quite seen him before: sporting full-on horns, a flaming crown, and a blazing sword. You know, the better to slice through the demon hordes with.

Okay, so obviously we’re not looking at some really off-brand outtakes from the Netflix hit show here—this is the new red band trailer for the Hellboy reboot starring David K. Harbour, and it’s stuffed to the gills with amazing ass-kicking and wisecracking.

We get our first good look at the villain in this preview, and Milla Jovovich, of course, makes evil look pretty damn alluring.

Here’s the Hellboy synopsis, so the wild ride that is this trailer makes a little more sense: “Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.”

Hellboy and that evil sorceress

Maybe not so helpful. Basically the trailer fills in some blanks, though—we know Hellboy’s origin story involves being born during World War II, an apparent Nazi attempt to gain an unstoppable super weapon.

He’s the big, jokey wise guy he is today in the contemporary scenes, but Ian McShane’s character, Hellboy’s adopted dad, sends him out to face Milla Jovovich’s gorgeous but evil 5th Century sorceress, Nimue.

Wheee!

Fun and shenanigans ensue.

We’ll know more when Hellboy hits theaters—flaming sword, dragon, and all—on April 12.
