There’s a Hey Arnold! Movie in the Works

Hey Arnold, welcome back!

We’ve known for a while that Nickelodeon had some kind of big plan for its “vintage” eighties and nineties properties, and the channel has finally revealed specifics for one: The beloved series Hey Arnold, about a fourth grader with a football-shaped head who lives in his grandparents, will return to Nickelodeon as a feature-length movie.

From Variety:

The TV movie will feature a storyline that picks up where the original series ended and resolves unanswered plotlines–including the whereabouts of Arnold’s parents, long missing from the program. Executives at the network declined to offer a specific date for when the new content might be ready or air.

“Kids who grew up on these characters are now of the age that they are having kids and families themselves,” Russell Hicks, president of content development and production for Nickelodeon Group, told Variety. “Our library has come to fruition and it’s time for it to start coming back to life.”

Nickelodeon reps sadly declined to discuss revival plans for additional series like Ren & Stimpy or Rocko’s Modern Life
