Hilary Duff Apologizes After Offending the World with Her Halloween Costume
She was accused of being “culturally insensitive.”
Hilary Duff and her boyfriend, celebrity personal trainer Jason Walsh, kicked off their weekend of Halloween festivities with what they surely believed to be an innocent couples costume that would barely make a “Best Dressed” list. Instead, their look got the world’s attention in a far more negative way.
Sporting a pilgrim and Native American costume respectively, the pair faced serious backlash from their culturally insensitive costume choices immediately after the images surfaced online.
Duff took to Twitter for her formal apology, hoping that she didn’t offend anyone with her decision and acknowledging that her look essentially was not a smart one.
I am SO sorry to people I offended with my costume. It was not properly thought through and I am truly, from the bottom of my ❤️sorry.

Walsh used his Instagram as the platform to repent, apologizing for offending anyone and stating his “respect for the indigenous people of America.”

We liked Duff’s look a whole lot better when she was posing for Maxim back in 2009—and we’ve got the pictures to prove it. Check out some throwback images below where she rocks a much hotter black outfit than that Halloween get-up.
