Here’s The First Look At What Playing the New ‘Deadpool’ Video Game is Like

‘Marvel Powers United’ allows players to be the Merc with the Mouth, and it looks like a hell of a lotta fun.

If it’s your dream to don the mask of Deadpool without looking like an avocado’s testicle, your dreams are about to come true. Announced this week, Marvel Powers United is a VR game coming from the comic book powerhouse in conjunction with the team at Oculus to give you and your friends all the powers of Marvel’s greatest characters.

The game, tagged with the same hazy “2018” launch date as the Deadpool movie sequel, promises an unprecedented experience where you and your friends can all take on the roles of different Marvel heroes to work together, simultaneously, to complete missions and battle against an equally impressive roster of iconic villains. When the game trailer dropped this weekend, only Hulk, Rocket from Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel were announced as playable characters with the promise of more to come. It didn’t take long for them to make good on that promise. Now, at the outset of San Diego’s Comic Con, Marvel is stoking that fire by declaring Deadpool the next playable character with the rest of the initial 12 set to be announced along the way to the game’s launch next year.

As Deadpool, there’ll be plenty of signature gunplay to keep your trigger fingers busy but we expect dual-swords to be an integral part of Pool’s arsenal. If you haven’t tried VR, gunplay and swordplay are some of the best gaming experiences you can have on the platform. Adding a heaping helping of Deadpool on top of that is giving us a nerd-boner of epic proportions. Whether or not Pool’s signature blabbermouthing is included or if it’s on you to crack wise in the game remains to be seen.

We’re locked onto Marvel for future announcements about who’ll be joining Deadpool for this AAA VR title. Fingers crossed for Wolverine and Spider Man to make their way into the fray sooner than later. Check out the video above to see what it’s like to take on Deadpool’s persona in the game and the video right here for the official trailer for Marvel Powers United.
