Jack White continues to spread his wings, this time by writing and performing the theme song for Maya Rudolph and Martin Short’s upcoming NBC variety show Maya & Marty

Maya & Marty is an attempt by the riff-happy SNL alums to reclaim the glory days of variety shows, and White’s theme is definitely in the retro spirit, a funky audio homage to ’70s television music.

In addition to writing and producing the theme song, White plays drums. He’s joined by Dean Fertita (Queen of the Stone Age) on organ, Lillie Mae Rische on guitar, Dominic Davis on bass, and Fats Kaplin on pedal steel guitar. Listen to it here!

This is White’s first time writing a song for a TV show, but he recorded a version of “You Are The Sunshine of My Life” that aired on The Muppets season finale. White was also featured on Beyonce’s Lemonade track “Don’t Hurt Yourself.”

Maya and Marty premieres tonight, May 31, on NBC at 10 p.m.
