Everyone Thinks Jim Carrey Was High as a Kite During Bizarre Red Carpet Interview, And You Need to Watch This

"I believe we're a field of energy dancing for itself."

You know New York Fashion Week is meaningless. I know this, and Jim Carrey knows this.

When Ace Venture showed up to a glitzy, self-important fashion week party celebrating “Icons,” he was having none of E! News’ usual red-carpet questions.

“There’s no meaning to any of this. I wanted to find the most meaningless thing I could come to and join, and here I am,” he began the interview, completely throwing off the E! reporter.

“Celebrating icons? Boy, that is absolutely just the lowest-aiming possibility that we could come up with,” he said of the theme.

When pressed, Carrey really got crazy.

I believe that peace lies beyond personalities—beyond invention in disguise, beyond the red S that you wear on your chest that makes bullets bounce off, I believe that it’s deeper than that. I believe we’re a field of energy dancing for itself.

Complimenting his outfit didn’t get the flummoxed E! reporter anywhere. “No, I didn’t get dressed up. There is no me. There’s just things happening, and there are clusters of tetrahedrons moving around together.”

He concluded his potentially-stoned interview with another bizarre gem of nihilism: “Here’s the thing. It’s not our world. We don’t matter. There’s the good news.”

She took that well.
