Jon Snow Will Definitely Return to Game of Thrones
Kit Harrington confirmed that his character’s coming back in a very unexpected way.
HBO continued to push the idea that Jon Snow, played by Kit Harrington, was permanently killed off of Game of Thrones after the shocking Season 5 finale, with executive Michael Lombardo insisting that “Dead is dead is dead. He be dead. Yes. Everything I’ve seen, heard and read, he is dead.”
Although the series did diverge quite a bit from the book plotlines the past season, there was still doubt amongst fans that even a show as ruthless as Game of Thrones would kill off such a vital character. And that skepticism has paid off.
As one Redditor pointed out, Harrington totally dropped his guard during an interview with Belgian magazine Humo. He translated a portion of the interview in which Harrington, who’s only 28, admitted that he’d be on the show well into his thirties. Even though Harrington’s already been seen filming battle scenes for the sixth season, there was a possibility those would only be used for flashback footage. But for him to commit to several more years of flashback footage seems highly unlikely.
Harrington: I often felt frustrated as well. I had to pass on amazing parts because I was attached to Game of Thrones. So the show is like a double-edged sword to me: I owe a lot to it, but at the same time it has almost completely drained me. Oh well, I try not to think about it too much. The important thing is that I now know exactly how long I am still under contract, and in the meantime –
Interviewer: How many more seasons would that be?
Harrington: Nice try (laughs). I can’t talk about that. Let’s just say that Game of Thrones will remain a part of my life for a while, I’ll probably be in my thirties when it’s over. One thing’s for sure: the day I’m no longer on Thrones is the day I’ll bury myself in movie projects (laughs).
So, there you have it. And remember: If you have a secret, don’t slip and tell it to a Belgian magazine.
