Journey Frontman Steve Perry Returns to the Stage After 19-Year Hiatus
The former lead singer resurfaced to play some of the band’s biggest hits.
In the middle of an Eels concert in St. Paul Sunday night, 1,000 lucky fans got the surprise of a lifetime: an encore set featuring former Journey frontman Steve Perry. It’s been nearly 19 years since the singer has performed, but for reasons unknown, he took this opportunity to hop on stage with the alt rock band to perform their song “It’s a Motherfucker,” as well as Journey classics “Open Arms” and “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’.” What are the chances of this ever happening again? With the singer’s reclusive history we’d say slim to none, but at least we have this clip to hold us over for a few more decades. Watch it above and relive the ’80s.
