Seemingly overnight, Hawaii-born musician Kawehi has turned into an Internet celebrity thanks to her epic cover of Nirvana’s classic song “Heart-Shaped Box.” In the video above, the talented songstress is seen executing a rendition using only her voice, a step sequencer, and an MIDI keyboard – no small feat considering the original was performed by a three-man band. While others have tried to compete with Kurt Cobain’s emotionally angsty vocals and hard-hitting chords, most have failed, until Kawehi brought us this modernized gem.
