Keanu Reeves’ Neo Shows Off Martial Arts Mastery In Final ‘Matrix Resurrections’ Trailer
“What Neo doesn’t yet know is the Matrix is stronger, more secure and more dangerous than ever before.”
The final Matrix Resurrections trailer offers another cinematic look at scenes spanning all four movies without giving much hint as to what’s happening in the computer simulation-exploring story.
This teaser’s theme of deja vu—what happens in the Matrix when code is altered—is explored more extensively. Keanu Reeves’ blue-pilled protagonist Neo is seen having flashbacks to numerous events from previous movies, from interacting with Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and having his lips freakishly melded together, to entering the programmable white void and kicking ass with some killer martial arts moves.
“Return to a world of two realities: one, everyday life; the other, what lies behind it. To find out if his reality is a physical or mental construct, to truly know himself, Mr. Anderson will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more,” the trailer’s description reads.
“And if Thomas…Neo…has learned anything, it’s that choice, while an illusion, is still the only way out of—or into— the Matrix. Of course, Neo already knows what he has to do. But what he doesn’t yet know is the Matrix is stronger, more secure and more dangerous than ever before.”
As Polygon points out, Abdul-Mateen II’s version of Morpheus also appears, as well Jonathan Groff’s interpretation of Agent Smith. But it’s Priyanka Chopra’s Sati who delivers the most ominous line.
“The most important choice in Neo’s life is not his to make.”
Take a trip down the rabbit hole once more when The Matrix Resurrections arrives in theaters and on HBO Max December 22, 2021.
