Watch Kendrick Lamar’s Incredible Performance at the 2016 Grammys
We’re calling it: best performance of the night.
Not only did Kendrick Lamar win awards for best rap album, rap song, and rap performance at the 2016 Grammys, he managed to stun us with a remarkable set —including “The Blacker the Berry” and “Alright” — halfway through the show.
The rapper came out to the stage in shackles and a uniform, chained to other prisoners, then transitioned to rapping in front of a bonfire and a giant outline of Africa (emblazoned with “Compton”) while painted backup dancers surrounded him.
There’s no way anyone’s topping that performance tonight.
Holy shit Kendrick. Macklemore is sending another apology text right now for even existing after that performance.
