Kevin Smith Is Down 43 Pounds Since His Massive Heart Attack, Looks Like a New Person
“And while I may look a little better, I FEEL f*cking fantastic!”
It’s been four months since filmmaker Kevin Smith suffered a massive heart attack that nearly killed him.
The 47 year old was in between back-to-back standup sets when he was rushed to the hospital, where doctors found “100% blockage of my LAD artery,” he tweeted.
Following the near-death experience, Smith dedicated himself to getting healthy, and on Wednesday he revealed that he’s down 43 pounds since the scare.
Smith credited the comedian and magician Penn Jillette, who wrote a book about his own weight loss journey, and Weight Watchers for getting “the absolute adult thinnest I’ve been since I finished high school!”
He added: “And while I may look a little better, I FEEL fucking fantastic!”

Smith wrote that he still has seven more pounds to lose before reaching his goal of dropping 50 pounds, but he’ll be sure to let the world know when he gets there.
The man known for his Silent Bob character owes much of his weight loss to adopting a vegan diet. “He’s the healthiest he’s ever been, he’s vegan now, which is amazing,” his daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, told Page Six in April.
He later went on The Jim & Sam Show with Jim Norton and Sam Roberts and said that his daughter as vegan for two years before he came around. It wasn’t easy though.
Admitting that he’s not a fan of fruit and vegetables, he described how a diet including falafel, hummus, beans, and the occasional vegan comfort food, has resulted in ‘wonderful’ health and a loss of 32 pounds in less than 3 months.
He added: “Chickpeas became a thing that saved my life.”
Smith promised that once he loses 50 pounds he’ll reveal how much he’s lost since his biggest. If this picture he posted from April is any clue, it’s going to be a lot.
