Undefeated Boxer Laila Ali Just Dumped a Truckload of Shade on Ronda Rousey
“You definitely don’t ever get beat up like that in your prime, period.”
The world might have been shocked by Holly Holm’s second round knockout of Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 on Saturday night, but retired undefeated professional boxer Laila Ali wasn’t at all.
“In order to be the best in the world, you definitely don’t ever get beat up like that in your prime, period,” Ali said of Rousey when TMZ caught up with her on Sunday.
The daughter of the legendary Muhammad Ali and a ferocious fighter in her own right, Ali said she knew Holm would make Rousey look silly at UFC 193. “She didn’t shock me,” she told TMZ.
But as for the formerly undefeated queen of the UFC, you can feel Ali’s hostility ooze through your speakers in the video below:
Ali’s final comment concerned the proposed rematch between Rousey and Holm. Already, Holm has said she’s ready to fight Rousey again. UFC head Dana White has said that a rematch at some point in 2016 makes sense (especially for his bank account). And Rousey would presumably be down.
But Ali, who’s a career 24-0 fighter, advised Rousey to stay out of any ring that Holm’s already in. “I don’t think she should have a rematch with Holly Holm, because I think it would go the same way the second time, probably worse.”
