Leonardo DiCaprio To Save the Earth With ‘Captain Planet’
So this is what you do with all that Oscar cred.
Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio is set on reducing our planet’s pollution to zero. Apparently he feels he can complete such a difficult task by teaming with green-haired cartoon superhero of the ’90’s, Captain Planet!
According to THR, The Revenant star is working with Paramount, Scream Queens star Glen Powell, and writer Jono Matt to put together a project inspired by Captain Planet and the Planeteers. The cheaply-animated cartoon show created by mogul Ted Turner united five teens with element-controlling rings to battle evils that could destroy our environment. When the teens combined their accessories the titular Captain Planet was born.

There’s no real concrete information on the impending film but it’s said that the movie “takes place years after the adventures of the show, with the Captain now a washed-up has-been who needs the kids more than they need him.”
Leo’s involvement makes sense. The 41-year old has made several public appearances to campaign for environmental conservation. Hopefully he’ll even play the Captain, not just produce. Combine his passion for nature with his method acting and the challenge pulling off the superhero’s horrible green mullet, and you’ve got yourself a real winner.
