Leonardo DiCaprio & Robert De Niro Star In Trailer For Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’

“Greed is an animal that hungers for blood.”

The first trailer for Killers of the Flower Moon has finally arrived—more than five years after news first broke that director Martin Scorsese would join forces with Oscar-winning actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro on the western crime epic.

Based on David Grann’s bestselling book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, the trailer gets some background from Apple TV+’s official synopsis:

“At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder.”

DiCaprio plays Ernest Burkhart, the nephew of a powerful rancher and the improbable husband of Osage settlement resident Mollie Kyle, while De Niro plays William Hale, a wicked cattle rancher suspected of organizing the killings of Osage tribespeople.

DiCaprio’s character provides ominous narration in a thick midwestern accent throughout the trailer. “There are many, so many, hungry wolves,” he reads from a children’s book at one point. “Can you find the wolves in this picture?” he says as a group shot of the “white interlopers” are shown.

Other ominous text is written on placards: “Greed is an animal that hungers for blood.”

This is Scorsese’s 10th collaboration with De Niro and his sixth with DiCaprio. The 80-year-old director cowrote the screenplay with Eric Roth (Dune) and produced the movie, while DiCaprio executive produced.

Killers of the Flower Moon hits theaters on October 20 before it begins streaming on Apple TV+ at a later date.
