Typically slow-aging Wolverine looks old… real old. That’s the first surprise to come from the trailer for Logan, Marvel’s next standalone film for the 3-clawed mutant, and the final go-around for Hugh Jackman.
Accompanied by Johnny Cash’s “Hurt,” we see the title character alongside vet and longtime friend, Professor Xavier, as they navigate an apparent dystopian world of 2024 (and possible continuation from X-Men: Apocalypse) in which the mutant population has become close to extinct courtesy of Nathaniel Essex, better known as Mr. Sinister.
The two are tasked with protecting an innocent young girl, whom X deems to be very much like Logan. Putting those comic book pieces together, most would figure her to be Laura Kinney, or X-23, the female clone of Wolverine who also has a regenerative healing factor, superhuman strength, senses, speed, and a shiny pair of adamantium claws.

The question is: With Logan’s powers diminishing and the Professor dealing with the struggles of Alzheimer’s, can they help to keep the mutant race alive?
