Finally. Just as Joaquin Phoenix‘s gritty, grim Joker is thrilling critics and freaking people out, Warner Brothers has released the first full trailer for Margot Robbie‘s Birds Of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn.
See, in Prey, as the voiceover indicates, Harley has broken it off with her Joker (originally played by Jared Leto, who knows who takes up the makeup next) and she’s seeking a new start. That apparently involves putting together one hell of an intimidating gang of badass women.
Her crew? Jurnee Smollett-Bell’s Black Canary, Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Rosie Perez as Detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez).
Funny enough, their mission is to lean into the “hero” part of “anti-hero” by rescuing Batgirl, Cassandra Cain (played by Ella Jay Basco) from the clutches of Ewan McGregor’s crazed Black Mask.
It’s a great trailer in that it doesn’t really tell us much other than we really want to see just how seriously Robbie gets her crazy on this time, as her Quinn was the best thing in Suicide Squad for a reason.
As she says at one point, “I’m the one you should be scared of.”
We’ll find out just how scary she truly is when Birds Of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn hits theaters on Feb. 7, 2020.
