Marvel Just Announced an Ant-Man Sequel With a Big Surprise

It’s going to be way bigger than the first film.

True believers, rejoice! With Phase 2 all wrapped up, Marvel has begun to put their focus on Phase 3, which means tons of mind-blowing announcements — including a brand new Ant-Man sequel dubbed Ant-Man and the Wasp.

At first, we were unsure when an Ant-Man sequel would see the light of day, but now, it appears July 6th, 2018 is when we’ll see the size-alterting supehero making his way back to the big screen. The big twist though is that he won’t be alone: Ant-Man and the Wasp  marks the first time a Marvel film will feature a heroine in a title role. We predicted earlier this year that  Evangeline Lily would be suiting up in the near future, but we didn’t know it’d be this soon. It’s about time women kicked a little ass in the Marvel Cinematic Universe outside of Black Widow’s doe-eyed Hulk love-fest.

With the Ant-Man news also came some new definitive release dates from the studio, including a shift for Black Panther to February 16th, 2018as well as Captain Marvel securing a March 8th, 2019 spot. They also gave us three dates for upcoming untitled productions, which remain a mystery. We suspect Doctor Strange will fill one spot (hello, Rachel McAdams), but it’s unclear what the other two might be.

To be honest, who cares what they are. We’ll be seeing them all anyway.
