We Desperately Want Dwyane Wade In This Retro ‘Miami Vice’ Jersey

The owner of the Miami Heat is feeling nostalgic.

You could fit everything millennials know about Miami Vice into the pocket of a white blazer, and yet here we are, 25 years after the show went off the air, getting excited about the prospect of the Miami Heat wearing jerseys inspired by the show. Such is the power of Don Johnson.

Thursday, Heat owner Micky Arison posted a picture of Dwyane Wade in two jerseys designed as an homage to the show and asked people to let him know what they thought. In summary, they thought, “OMG, yes, we want thoooooooose.”

But like the sleeves on Johnson’s signature blazer, the odds these jerseys become a reality are short. Heat beat writer Ira Winderman reports that the team’s jerseys for next season are already settled, meaning the designs conjured by Reddit users WelshNBAFan and NeotericPioneer are at least two years away. And let’s be real, by then everyone will have forgotten about this.

Too bad, because when it comes to TV-inspired jerseys, these are better than most in that they don’t make you want to gouge your eyes out. That’s something that cannot be said for the following jerseys, inspired by Portlandia, Sons of Anarchy and, for some reason, Rugrats.
