Netflix has long been the most high-profile destination for standup comedy specials, and there’s more to watch than ever. The streaming giant has collectively paid big names like Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen DeGeneres, Ricky Gervais, Chris Rock and Amy Schumer hundreds of millions for the rights to produce original specials. With brief descriptions from Netflix, here are five recent additions to the platform’s standup library to lighten things up during the coronavirus crisis:
Tom Segura: Ball Hog
Tom Segura scores laughs with uncomfortably candid stories aobut mothers, fathers, following your dreams—and other things you’d rather not think about.
Marc Maron: End Times Fun
Marc Maron wades through a swamp of vitamin hustlers, evangelicals and grown male nerd children, culminating in a gleefully filthy end-times fantasy.
Bert Kreischer: Big Boy
Ever the stand-up party animal, comic Bert Kreischer riffs on parenting and family life, being a gun and pet owner, his dad discovering pot, and more.
Pete Davidson: Alive From New York
Comedian Pete Davidson is known for his unfiltered anecdotes, and he’s giving the audience more than what they asked for in his first Netflix original comedy special, filmed at the Gramercy Theatre in New York.
Taylor Tomlinson: Quarter-Life Crisis
She’s halfway through her 20s — and she’s over it. Too old to party, too young to settle down, comedian Taylor Tomlinson takes aim at her life choices.
And here are three more Netflix standup specials coming in April:
David Batra: Elefanten i rummet – April 1
Chris D’Elia: No Pain – April 14
Mauricio Meirelles: Generating Chaos – April 16
