Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps Kissing Retirement Goodbye
Apparently he couldn’t stay out of the pool for long.
It seems that for swimmer Michael Phelps, just having more medals than anyone else in Olympic history simply isn’t enough. After announcing his retirement nearly two years ago, the “Baltimore Bullet” this week confirmed that he’ll be returning to the sport, and will start by testing the pool waters at the Arena Grand Prix in Arizona later this month.
(We tried reaching Brett Favre and Michael Jordan for comment, but they couldn’t talk because they were too busy reading this news about Phelps with giant cartoon money signs in their eyes.)
Phelps’ official comeback will be a three-day affair commencing on April 24. He plans to swim in the 500 and 100 meter freestyles as well as the 100 meter butterfly. Both the swimmer and his longtime coach, Bob Bowman, are playing coy as to whether Phelps will compete in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, but let’s be honest, it’s probably time to add more shelves to the trophy room. You know, just in case.
