‘Patriots Day’ Has Cast the Roles of the Boston Marathon Bombers

The film also stars Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan.

Patriots Day, the upcoming movie based on the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing has cast the brothers responsible for the massacre: Variety reports Alex Wolff and Themo Malikidze will play Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, respectively. Dzhokhar was convicted and sentenced to death in connection with the bombings last year, while his older brother Tamerlan was killed after an extended Boston-area manhunt.

Alex Wolff is best known for starring in the Nickelodeon comedy series The Naked Brothers Band. He also appeared in the HBO series In Treatment. Themo Malikidze appeared in The Beautiful Something and the upcoming film Transit 17.

According to Variety, filming is already underway in Boston. Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, Michelle Monaghan, J.K. Simmons and Kevin Bacon had previously signed on. Peter Berg is directing. 

Patriots Day will premiere on December 21.
