Playlist of the Week: ASTR
This NYC based duo has blasted onto the scene and shows no signs of slowing down.
Meet Zoe Silverman and Adam Pallin, the brains behind NYC based duo ASTR. After meeting three years ago in a Manhattan yoga class, Zoe and Adam discovered that they shared a musical and artist sensibility informed by film noir, Miami Vice, and urban dreamscapes. ASTR was soon born.
Zoe is a New York Native and former major label refugee; after a hiatus from music to explore the world via spirituality she met Adam, a recovering vinyl addict with a penchant for 60’s/70’s cinema scores, disco, and the fingers for anything with keys (vintage synths, guitar and bass). Soon, ASTR blasted onto the scene with a blend of deep house and hardcore hip-hop, releasing their Varsity EP in 2014 and gaining buzz from fan favorites including “Operate,” “Blue Hawaii” and their cover of Drake’s “Hold On We’re Going Home.” Since then ASTR has been steadily gaining fans and performing at festivals including Ultra, SXSW and Governor’s Ball.
Check out the video for ASTR’s newest single “Activate Me,” released just last month.
