‘Road House’ Trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor Face Off In Amazon Remake

The two-fisted remake of the 1989 cult classic is available to stream now on Amazon’s Prime Video.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor’s aggro characters are butting heads—literally—in the new trailer for Road House, a punchy remake of the Patrick Swazye-led 1989 cult classic of the same name.

Gyllenhaal plays ex-UFC fighter Dalton, who “take takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems,” according to the official synopsis. Among the surprises is a violent encounter with the real former two-division UFC champ, who plays Dalton’s “nemesis” in his acting debut.

Per the trailer and synopsis, it seems that the Douglas Liman-directed movie will stay largely true to the original, which featured Swayze as a rough-and-tough bouncer in charge of keeping order at a rowdy bar.

“I’m thrilled to put my own spin on the beloved Road House legacy,” Liman said in a previous statement. “And I can’t wait to show audiences what Jake and I are going to do with this iconic role.”

Gyllenhaal and McGregor have both been teasing the movie on Instagram with promotional photos and behind-the-scenes glimpses.

“In the studio, putting the finishing touches on @roadhousemovie and feeling fortunate to have worked with so many talented folks throughout the making of this film,” Gyllenhaal wrote. “Over the next few weeks, can’t wait to share some of the preparation, people and moments that have made this one so much fun!”

“Honored to debut alongside such a stellar cast and crew!” McGregor added. “Thank you all! Here we go!”

Also starring Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Joaquim de Almedia, Lukas Gage, Arturo Castro, B.K. Cannon, Beau Knapp and Darren Barnet, Road House is available to stream now on Amazon’s Prime Video.
