Watch the Cast of the Rocky Horror Picture Show Reunite for Its 40th Anniversary
Susan Sarandon, Tim Curry, Meat Loaf and the rest of the Rocky Horror crew are doing the Time Warp.
Hard to believe, but The Rocky Horror Picture Show is turning 40 this year, and Entertainment Weekly brought the cast back together for a special reunion issue.
For the first time in 25 years, Susan Sarandon, Tim Curry, Meat Loaf, Barry Bostwick and Patricia Quinn got together on the Today show to talk about the legendary cult movie. And they all look like a million bucks (really — even Meat Loaf!)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show was originally a stage production (starring Meat Loaf, Curry, and Quinn) and when it was adapted for the big screen, it wasn’t an immediate hit. The movie was a box office disappointment before expanding into smaller, arthouse theaters where it became a phenomenon among more alternative audiences. Four decades later, you can still see The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the theater — giving it the longest-running theatrical release in cinematic history.
In the Today segment, Susan Sarandon confessed that she came down with pneumonia during the filming, and Bostwick observed that the Rocky Horror fan base keeps getting younger and younger. Sarandon corrected him: “No, we’re getting older and older.” Time may have marched on, but I’m guessing Curry can still pull off a pair of fishnets (no doubt Sarandon can!)
