Holly Holm’s Coach Is Already Trash-Talking Ronda Rousey
This rematch is gonna be good.
Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey are nearly six months away from their highly-anticipated rematch, but the verbal haymakers are already flying.
Holm’s coach Mike Winkeljohn was recently on Australia’s Submission Radio talking about his fighter’s next bout with Miesha Tate when the subject of of Holm’s July 9th rematch in Las Vegas came up. Winkeljohn spoke as if the rematch, which Dana White all but confirmed for UFC 200, isn’t quite set in stone. But Holm, he said, is ready to go.
“If Ronda has the guts to do it again, let’s do it again,” he said.
DAMN!
Calling out Rousey’s guts is a sure fire way to get her attention. Hell, she hated on Holm before their fight and Holly hasn’t said a negative word about her since, but it’s hard to think this line wasn’t an intentional jab, especially since Winkeljohn followed it with a figurative kick to the head: “In many ways, Miesha Tate is more dangerous than Ronda Rousey.”
DAMN AGAIN!
That’s an interesting take considering the ass-kicking Rousey has given Tate both times they got in the Octagon together, but we won’t blame Winkeljohn for fanning the flames of this rivalry half a year away from the fight. Six more months of this kind of sparring from both fighters is just fine by us.
