It’s been over 11 years since Naomi Watts taught the global population it’s never a good idea to gaze directly at cursed videos. But because kids don’t listen, and production companies don’t know when to quit, Samara will crawl out of your TV and soak up your carpet once again in the upcoming film, Rings.
The third installment in the remake of the Japanese horror franchise, Rings sees things turned up a notch with the times. VHS players are gone and we have text messages, emails, and, if screeching haunted girl Samara was smart, Snapchat and Instagram.
Original victim Rachel Keller has been swapped out for Julia, an innocent girl who opens an email that just missed her spam folder, courtesy of her boyfriend’s incessant hounding about the videotape story. As expected, things begin to go from bad to absolutely shiteous, Julia chokes on some drain hair, peels off her skin, and deals with some rowdy in-flight turbulence, most likely due to the fact that she’s set to die in 7 days.
Rings, starring Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, and Aimee Teegarden, hits theaters just in time for Halloween on October 28th.
