The ‘Scarface’ Remake Could Be Epic As The Coen Brothers Come In to Work on the Script

The ‘Raising Arizona’ creators have done plenty of Hollywood repair work.

Diego Luna’s Tony Montana may be adding “friendo” to his signature line about a “little friend” now that filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen have reportedly come in to help out.

According to Variety, the Coens are set to “polish the script,” and that’s apparently something they do whenever they’re not making their own blockbusters like No Country For Old Men:

It’s not the Coen brothers’ first go-round doctoring a major script–the Oscar-winning duo were recently hired to polish Angelina Jolie’s “Unbroken” as well as Steven Spielberg’s “Bridge of Spies.”

It’s hard to not think things are a little unsteady behind the scenes with this remake. For example: Training Day director Antoine Fuqua was originally slated to direct, but he backed out in January, Variety reported

Still, with sure hands like the Coens involved it’s clear the producers are out to make a gangster movie on a par with the Al Pacino classic—even though that is admittedly one hell of a high bar.
